Travis Smith has recently retired as Superintendent of the San Luis Valley Irrigation District after 26 years. Travis served as Rio Grande Basin Director on the Colorado Water Conservation Board from 2005-2017, and Rio Grande Basin IBCC member from 2010-2017. He is now a Senior Consultant with DiNatale Water Consultants providing assistance in the development of the Rio Grande Cooperative Project, a public/private partnership between the State of Colorado and the SLVID. Travis also serves as chairman of RWEACT (Rio Grande Watershed Emergency Action Coordination Team), and as a member of the Rio Grande Basin Roundtable EX Committee. Travis is a strong advocate for Colorado’s water future by building partnerships based on trust and respect within the water user community. Travis and his wife Maureen ranch on San Francisco Creek near Del Norte.
