CWC Member Update - April 30
When: Thursday, April 30 at 12:15 pm
Where: Virtual Meeting - Zoom
Join us for this member update. This week our focus will be on impacts to the State budget from COVID-19. The Joint Budget Committee just released their working document on Staff Budget Balancing, FY 2020-21 for the Dept. of Natural Resources. This document (attached) contains staff recommendations for DNR budget changes after the March economic forecast. (We still have the predicted-to-be gloomy May forecast ahead.) A wide variety of DNR programs will be impacted including CWCB loan funds, Water Supply Reserve Fund Grant Program, Species Conservation Trust Fund, and Aquatic Nuisance Species Fund – all of keen interest to Colorado’s water community.
The document is rather complicated even for budget geeks, so we are pleased and grateful that JBC member Sen. Bob Rankin be on the call this week to help us understand what it means for Colorado’s water programs.
We are also happy that Keith McLaughlin, new Executive Director of the Colorado Water Resources and Power Development Authority will give us his take on what is likely to happen with projects and loans. Keith has a really good understanding of the markets.
