Brian Werner

Northern Water Conservancy District
Brian is a native Coloradoan and water historian who has spent 35 years actively involved in water resources management in Colorado. He is the Public Information Officer and Head of the Communications and Records Department for the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District in Berthoud. He also currently serves as the Public Affairs Coordinator for the Northern Integrated Supply Project, a project working its way (slowly) through the federal permitting process. Brian has spent much of his career giving presentations and educating the public about the history of water development and natural resource issues in Colorado and the American West. He currently serves on the boards of the Poudre Heritage Alliance and the Poudre River Trust. Brian is a native Coloradan, having been born and raised in Colorado Springs. Brian attended the University of Northern Colorado and Colorado State University earning undergraduate and master’s degrees in history. Outside interests include travelling (he and his wife, Tina Del Ponte, spent two weeks in Israel in March 2014) golfing, reading, the Denver Broncos (he was at the Super Bowl 50 to watch his favorite team win), and three daughters, a stepson, daughter-in-law and four grandchildren, not necessarily in that order!
