Mike Gibson

Board Term: 2019 to 2022
Mike was educated in England and obtained his degree in Mining Engineering from the Royal School of Mines at London University. He worked in Sierra Leone, West Africa upon graduation. He obtained a Master's degree in Mineral Economics and an M.B.A. from Stanford University. Mike worked in  operations, environmental and technical positions in the mineral industry, predominantly in the Western United States. On retiring from the mineral industry, he joined the Nature Conservancy for 3 years at the Medano Zapata Ranch in the San Luis Valley. He became involved in the Rio Grande Headwaters Restoration Project, joining the San Luis Valley Water Conservancy District. Mike served as the Chair of the Rio Grande roundtable and was the President of the Colorado Water Congress, where he continues to serve as a member of the board. Mike retired from the Sun Luis Valley Water Conservancy District in 2015.
